2022 is over (wow I still can’t believe it). A year that turned out I believe- worse than many of us had expected, economically and financially.
I hope you still stay healthy, in shape, and remain hopeful for this year going forward.
Because regardless of whatever happens, hope is what we have and what we can maintain to keep us moving forward.
I haven’t really sat down to write out my goals this year , or anything I want to do just yet.
I guess I am still processing my previous year, reflected what I went through, the key takeaway.
I invite you to do the same.
Do not rush to write down every goal until you get clarity on your direction, your mental state, where life led you and where you want to move forward.
Because as they say, garbage in, garbage out.
There is no pride in making a list of goals or resolutions for the sake of doing it.
My year turned out to be very colorful with bright notes as well as shadows and some dark colors.
Before I may forget, here are some notes I want to keep to myself about the things I had learned in the span of 12 months.
(in no particular order and may not be exhaustive)
-Not everything glittering is gold. Just because it sounds fancy or looks fancy, it doesn’t mean it’s worth pursuing.
-Advice is always short and easier said than done. Sometimes you don’t need to spend hours listening to advice, you can only learn by getting your hands dirty.
-Also, be careful of whom you choose to listen to. Be selective.
-Try to remain kind even if people are not. Because it’s on you to be kind. It’s on them to be unkind.
-Don’t forget how others have been kind to you and helpful to you. Pay it forward. Keep a good relationship with them.
-Don’t lose hope. And don’t take things too seriously.
-The meaning of life is what we give life meaning to.
-Life is not a sprint. It’s a marathon. If you only live with the end of reaching the destination, you may end up at the graveyard sooner than expected.
-Taking risks is a part of a growing process. But doing nothing could be risky too.
-To really heal, sometimes you have to go back to the root and make peace with it, internally more than externally
-Changing the environment can really change your perspective
-Determining if something fits is hard until you really try: You won’t likely imagine how a job is until you are fully immersed in it, learn the ins and outs
-If something costs you your mental health, it is way too expensive. Let it go.
-Regret is not a bad thing, it’s ok to accept that you make a decision that you feel regret later. We learn through trial and error and regret is part of the process.
-With time and changing conditions, your ambition changes, your priority changes, and your goals change, and that’s perfectly ok!
What about you? What are the 3 most important lessons you have learned in the last year?
P/S: I took the photo below in Hue- Imperial City- Vietnam where I came back to my country after 3 years of being away. The trip definitely changes my perspective and help me grounded and better connect to my root.
