5 transformation ideas to develop growth mindset with Vishen

April 17, 2023 · In: Uncategorized

As you may be aware, I possess a keen interest in life and possess a growth-oriented mentality. I am continuously exploring ways to enhance myself, and I am particularly passionate about personal development, personal growth. Recently, I stumbled upon a video by a renowned author that deeply connected with me.

His name is Vishen

ABOUT VISHEN

Vishen Lakhiani is a well-known entrepreneur, author, and speaker who is passionate about personal growth and human potential. He is the founder and CEO of Mindvalley, a global education platform that provides courses and resources to help people improve their lives and reach their full potential.

Under Vishen’s leadership, Mindvalley has become a world-renowned brand, with millions of students across the globe benefiting from its programs. Vishen is also a bestselling author, with his books The Code of the Extraordinary Mind and The Buddha and the Badass inspiring readers to think differently and embrace personal growth

The author’s speech struck me in several ways, and I wanted to share the most important takeaways with you. But first: Let’s hear what he got to say

FAILURE IS IMPORTANT FOR GROWTH

Firstly, many Asian cultures tend to view failure as something to be ashamed of, whereas Western cultures tend to be more guilt-based. This is an essential distinction to understand because it affects how we approach personal growth. To grow and succeed, we must be willing to take risks and learn from our mistakes without feeling ashamed or embarrassed.

EVERYTHING IS A VEHICLE FOR US TO GROW

Additionally, the author emphasized that our businesses or careers are just vehicles for us to learn and grow. If we experience failure in these areas, we should ask ourselves whether we’ve grown through the experience. The same goes for any challenging or unfortunate situations we encounter in life; we should always ask ourselves whether we’ve learned and grown from them.

PERSONAL GROWTH SHOULD BE OUR ULTIMATE GOAL AND PRIORITIZED

Furthermore, personal growth should be prioritized over other aspects of our lives. We should make a conscious effort to spend at least 20 minutes every day learning something new, whether it’s by reading a book, listening to a podcast, or taking a course. By making personal growth a habit, we can continuously improve ourselves and achieve our goals.

We learn through either pain, or insight

It’s also essential to note that people typically change through either pain and crisis or insights gained from retrospection or the wisdom of others. To avoid waiting for a crisis to spur us into action, we should take a proactive approach to personal growth and continuously seek out opportunities to learn and improve ourselves.

However, my personal takeaway should not discourage you from listening to this incredibly inspiring speech. Listen to it here and let me know what you think?

Questions for you

  1. What are some personal growth strategies that have worked for you?
  2. How do you define failure and how does your culture shape that definition?
  3. Do you believe personal growth should be prioritized over other aspects of life? Why or why not?
  4. Have you ever had a crisis that led to personal growth? How did you handle it?
  5. Do you agree that pain and crisis are necessary for personal growth, or do you believe that insights and wisdom from others can also lead to personal growth? Why or why not?
  6. What new skill or knowledge have you recently acquired to promote personal growth?
